The scammers are attempting to get sensitive information, such as card details, from people over the phone. The Vigil Fraud Bureau have confirmed that this is a scam and have advised that they never ask for any personal information during an outbound call. If you receive a call from the Vigil Fraud Bureau asking for sensitive information: Do not provide any personal details Hang up the phone Notify UniBank and/or the Vigil Fraud Bureau. During the Christmas period, because of increased spending, we often see an increase in banking related scams. We urge members to remain vigilant when using their cards at a terminal, ATM or online during the holiday season, and to report any suspect transactions or communication immediately.
