Avoid using unsecured websites and Wi-Fi networks. Be aware of the information you are sending across unsecured networks. Avoid using unsecured Wi-Fi networks for online shopping, as this may heighten your chances of being targeted for fraud. 3. Stay aware of scams that are occurring. The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission keeps an updated list of occurring scams, viewable at https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/ 4. Check details of emails before engaging. Most companies will not send click-through via links on emails, or make unprompted calls for your details. Always be suspicious of calls that claim to be from a service provider you have no history with.
