We’re rebranding to better position UniBank for growth in the university sector not only in WA but across Australia, ensuring our future and supporting our goal to provide better banking options and a brighter financial future for our members. Following the merger with Teachers Mutual Bank Ltd (TMB) in 2015 we undertook a wide reaching research project on the brand with over 400 participants from UniBank’s core segments (university staff, students and graduates) to help us better understand what banking proposition would make them more likely to consider switching to UniBank. In brief, the findings told us that UniBank needed to be reinvigorated to be relevant and contemporary in order to drive consideration. Over the last year we have worked with an external advertising agency to deliver a new and exciting brand position for UniBank. The distinct new logo and style substantially differentiates the brand from TMB and will help appeal to our core market who we’ll be targeting primarily through on-campus, digital and social channels. What do you mean by rebrand? We will be changing our logo and corporate colours. The new brand will be supported by an updated mission, vision and set of core values. Is the name changing too? No. Our name will remain UniBank. Will the website address (URL) be changing? No. Our website address will remain unibank.com.au Will the rebrand impact my current accounts with UniBank or how I do my daily banking? No. Your accounts and loans with us will not be affected. You can continue to conduct your daily banking with us just as you do today. We will continue to provide members with outstanding levels of personalised service with our locally based member services team. Why are you spending money on rebranding instead of reducing loan interest rates and fees? We’re rebranding to better position UniBank for growth in the university sector not only in WA but across Australia, ensuring our future and supporting our goal to provide better banking options and a brighter financial future for our members. As a mutual we do not pay out profits to external shareholders, instead we reinvest those profits back into the organisation for the benefit of all members. This allows us to provide a range of mutual advantages to our members including keeping our interest rates and fees competitive, investing in product development to find better ways for our members to bank with us, and ensuring the organisation is best placed for sustainability and growth in a very competitive and dynamic financial services sector. Why are you spending money on rebranding when you already did that less than 2 years ago? When we merged with Teachers Mutual Bank Ltd in 2015, our brand style, logo, corporate colours and values were aligned closely with those of TMB. The research conducted after the merger has told us that UniBank needed to be further differentiated from TMB in order to be best positioned for growth, enabling us to be able to continue to deliver exceptional lifetime banking experiences for our members.
